I’ve been in business for over 20 years. I’ve helped people overcome the challenges above and I’ve had plenty of people help me. Along the way, I’ve learnt the hard and practical reality of what running a business means and seen all too well that most people in business spend their time reacting. This is the fast track to failure. Without a proper plan, and a strategy for growing your business, you and your business will, at best, stagnate.

Through my coaching, I start by asking three fundamental questions: Where are you? Where are you going? What do you want to achieve? Then I help map out objectives based on the things that are impacting you running your business at its full potential. These may be related to the market you’re in, your competitors, rising costs, upscaling (or downscaling) or any number of other commercial factors.

Having a plan with key objectives means you have something to work towards and a way of evaluating it, improving your performance.

All of us can unlock the potential to perform better. The question is, what are you doing to make that happen? I’ve coached enough business professionals to realise that although everyone is different, there are fundamentals that need to be in place to produce high performance. These include having a clear path, having clear goals and regularly reviewing your progress.

My role as your coach is to help you to define that path and set those goals. But I don’t hold your hand. Instead, through regular review and support, I empower you to take responsibility and be accountable for your own journey. My aim is to give you a much better understanding of yourself and how you need to behave in order to perform at your best. Not just now, but continually, throughout your career.

It’s not just about looking at strengths and weaknesses, it’s about finding ways to capitalise on them that will help you advance your career.

I work with you to put together a plan. This plan has a timeline, with goals and markers that help us assess how you’re doing. I’m always talking about accountability, and in this context it’s definitely not optional – you need to take proper responsibility for your career. Through regular support and evaluation, I help you to see that you can control your career, and understand how to do it.

Be better, bolder, braver. Stop missing opportunities because you don’t feel you’re good enough. This is not the way it has to be.

Some people just seem to have been born with self-confidence. Don’t ever tell yourself that. Self-confidence is nurtured – it’s a mentality. Read any biography of any of the world’s most successful business people and you will read about a time when they didn’t believe in themselves, when their self-esteem was low and all they could see was failure.

Maybe it’s a big pitch or presentation. Maybe it’s finally “going it on your own” with your business. Perhaps you feel you simply need to take charge more, and be more decisive at work. Whatever the context, believing in yourself takes courage.

Coaching helps to instill that courage, because it helps you to separate irrational from rational causes for fear. It helps you to understand, as a professional, what your bad habits are, and what constitutes the right attitude. It’s only through understanding yourself professionally that you can set the right goals and define a path.

Starting with a clear plan, I guide you in nurturing the discipline to create new habits and new approaches.
